On June 19, the Lithuanian Bar Association hosted the semifinals of the Young European Lawyers Contest. During the semifinals, two teams were selected from among the four competing teams to advance to the competition’s finals this October.
The finals will take place on October 5–7 at the Academy of European Law (ERA) in Trier and at the General Court of the European Union (EU) in Luxembourg.
Winners Announced
Four teams competed in the semifinals: Acropolis, Blue Lagoon, Carpathians, and Fishermen’s Bastion.
They were evaluated by a panel of experts consisting of representatives from Lithuania and abroad: Kęstutis Švirinas, a lawyer and member of the Lithuanian Bar Council; a lawyer Julija Kalpokienė; and Erik Valgaeren, a board member of the Organization of Flemish Bars (Belgium).
In evaluating the contestants, the panel considered their knowledge of European law, as well as their ability to draft written arguments, conduct negotiations, and present arguments during proceedings.
The teams Acropolis and Blue Lagoon emerged as the winners and advanced to the finals.
The Competition Encourages a Deeper Understanding of EU law
